Show of hands. Who else was reminded of the first episode in the beginning? No, just me? Well, shit. Hearing Ui’s telling Yui to wake up instantly reminded me of how the series started out. Same scene, same time, same line. I wonder if they did that on purpose. I’m not particularly fond of this episode since it was just someday in the rain. Haha, get it? Because in Haruhi, there was that episode with the same title and it was a lame episode and…
I love Yui a lot, but I thought the enthusiasm was a lot stronger than it usually is in the other episodes. I admit, she’s certainly caring to her guitar, and I felt really bad for her when she was getting soaked in the rain, not to mention kids running and the cars driving by, and a stupid mutt splashing the rainwater on her. I assumed because her guitar is inside a case there shouldn’t be too much worrying about the condition of the instrument, but maybe I’m overestimating the material. Most of the time I couldn’t stop comparing her to Nodame, especially when she was covering herself in a black cloth. If this wasn’t enough, maid Yui makes a special appearance in homeroom.
Now I’m also one of those types that don’t like the rain. Living in SF all my life, you gotta understand that our weather is abnormal, changing at random times to random temperatures. It can be chilly yet sunny, but never as warm as it used to be. And of course all that fog. I think the only thing we learned in this episode was the name of Mio’s bass, which happens to be Elizabeth. Only complaint is that the episode ends on a rather silly, weird note with Mio freaking out.
