I wish this episode came sooner or at least had been part of the broadcasts, but for what it’s worth, it’s definitely worthy of a special episode. This is really the kind of thing K-ON! should really display and this is perhaps the only time i will (until the second season?). I enjoyed the episode a lot because we get to see the girls attend a live house event with other bands. They really need to get a lot more gigs because it’s just that much more enjoyable. It may have been a while since the last K-ON! but once you start watching this you feel right at home again thanks to the characters. Yui is as jeery as ever and I just love how she went through signing her autograph for Nodoka, who accepted it after seeing Yui get depressed. Another thing, she really adapts to her surroundings and it’s great how she knows no fear. Either that or she’s idiotically friendly with anyone. One thing I found kind of annoying was the rehearsal scene. A few slip ups like that were just silly. It might explain why we don’t ever see them practicing because this could happen or something. Leave it all to the drummer. The live did go well after all so it wasn’t bad.
Until this episode, I had no idea there were things to go over first in live houses, such as filling out forms with specifics about your performances. I also want to mention that Mio, as beautiful as she is, should never manage anything despite her seriousness. All pink and school uniforms? And here I thought this was gonna be a great opportunity for Don’t say “lazy” attires, but I guess that wouldn’t be fair to that gothloli band. Speaking of which, “Fuwafuwa Time” seems to be Houkago Tea Time’s favorite, but I think it kinda lost its spark long ago, so I wish they went for something like Curry Nochi Rice. Good thing there will be new songs coming their way.
I didn’t expect another part after the live house either. Nothing we haven’t seen, but Azu-nyan was just too adorable with the tiger ears on throughout the New Year. All in all, easily one of K-ON!’s best, and not just because it was a special episode. I sincerely hope they do more live shows, but I can’t forget that there are times for afternoon tea in the clubroom. See you then.
