K-ON!eps 8

A really fun episode this time around. I actually laughed at several parts of the episode. Mostly it was because of the animal suits and Sawa-chan dragging Mio. Speaking of which, man… even Ui’s caught moé fever for Mio! I think we’ll finally see more Ui now that she’s in high school, so that’s a plus. BTW, was anyone else reminded of Lucky Star during the scene where the girls see if they changed classrooms? My god, I’ve always believed Mio was the Kagami of the group, but this just proved it even more. My other favorite scene was the whole bit with her and Yui’s craving for ice cream. But anyway, the really important person this time around is the new light music club member Azusa. She bears a striking resemblance to a Minami sister. Actually, she’s like Kana and Chiaki blended into one. Not much to say about her as of yet, but she might turn out to be a cool character. Now as a five-member band, I’m expecting some more awesome songs.
I found the concert the girls held to be much better than the school festival’s concert. The sole reason is probably because Fuwafuwa Time switched into PV mode, not that I minded, but it pulled away from the feeling of a school festival concert. Besides that, the song sounds great too. Silly title, yes, but great song nonetheless. Shamefully, I thought of Rob Schneider as The Stapler for a moment when I heard their song title. Can’t wait for the CD release of this. Nothing like a duet between Mio and Yui, but that just begs the question: will Ritsu and Mugi get to sing later?
This has to be my favorite episode so far. Lots of laughs and good music which are what I think is the epitome for this show. The entire episode managed to demonstrate the series’ charms very well like with the introductions, Yui’s MC, and the concert. And also like Youko, I was totally reminded of Lucky Star’s Kagami when Mio got put into a different class. At least she has what’s her face in her class (Yui’s childhood friend). From animal to maid costumes, there was plenty of variety in what the girls wore in this episode. How they were convinced into the animal ones, I do not know. I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason was simply because it looked like fun. I know Yui and Ritsu love to dress up.
I really liked the concert they played and thought it far surpassed Fuwa Fuwa. From the surprise Mio/Yui duet to the song itself, I was enjoying myself through the whole thing. Safe to say I’ll be getting the single when it pops up. Another thing I was suprised at was that after an amazing concert performance, the girls only managed to attract one person. I was expecting people to be flocking to the music room, but I guess the Chiaki-Kana hybrid is enough. I’m curious to see what part she’ll have in the band. She showed interest towards the Jazz Club so maybe the trombone or trumpet?
