This episode was a genuine blast. I actually just came back from a similar summer music event of my own, so that’s some great timing. What makes this episode so great is that we never get to see something eventful like this in the series so far, but it’s one of the most fitting scenarios that should happen. After all, these girls are supposed to be playing in a band. Everything about it felt as real and fun as an actual musical festival should feel. Crowds, the warm weather, the atmosphere, food, stands, fold chairs, the stages, the equipment, the instruments, the mosh pits, and last but not least, the bands themselves. I was certainly glad that Mio let loose and joined along with the other girls in the fun.
Mio attended a live concert with Ritsu before, but once she was at the music festival, she was mesmerized once again by the atmosphere. Similarly, seeing these band performances sparked Yui, giving her complete confidence in herself and the other four, going so far as to say that they are better than all the bands there. Pretty arrogant of Yui to say, but likely it was her way of expressing how motivated she is. And speaking of Yui, it’s amusing how no one recognized her during the meetup. Either Yui’s amazing at disguising or the girls have really bad deduction skills. I certainly didn’t think Yui would be earlier than the rest, but she’s always been full of surprises. I really do hope HTT does get to someday be doing these events. For now, I’d love to see more lives like the one gig they did in the extra episode from last season.
