kzi_youkoTaking a more educational approach, the latest episode deals with Yui fighting her battles against algebra and less on the musical factor. Disappointing, perhaps, but still amusing in its own right. I don’t expect them to fully play something worthwhile so early on, anyway. Yui’s score was so bad that she had to take a make-up exam. According to Yui’s old test scores, she didn’t even do basic positives/negatives and fractions right (lol). The ending was priceless when it was revealed she scored perfectly on her make-up. What better way to celebrate than taking a photo with the score? Maybe framing the test paper itself, eh, Yui? *cough* I laugh at how she has a book called 「さるでもわかる ギターコード」(Sarudemo Wakaru Gitaa Koodo), which translates to “Even Monkeys Know Guitar Chords.” There was also that concentration book she had too. I don’t blame her for getting sidetracked since we all have done it before. The only thing that really motivated her to work hard was knowing she’d have Mugi’s sweets. Nice. Wait, this whole time they’ve done nothing buy live in luxury at Mugi’s expense. I noticed Yui just loves to wear generic tees with simple phrases on them. “Champion,” “Romance,” “Love hun(?),” “Challenge”…
The episode seemed to cater a lot towards the Ritsu angle, which was definitely a good thing. She clearly had the best moments out of everyone, from her imaginations of Yui rolling on her bed reading, which Ritsu did herself when she was at Yui’s, to her phone video to her boredom to her epic dive rolling on the floor entrance. It was great once Mio lost it and kicked Ritsu out right after poking the sole of Yui’s foot. It’s quite amazing that, as Yui said, she scored well on the midterm despite not looking the type. Yeah, she got help from Mio, but it’s still pretty good. Actually, it shouldn’t really be too surprising. After all, Konata scored damn high from just uber-cramming the night before. So other than the main girls, Ui gets a proper intro. She’s a cute imouto, all right, and very well-organized and polite! Heck, even Tsumugi was enthralled by her maturity. But anyway, overall, pretty interesting, but the next one will definitely be a bit more exciting, with or without the music.
kzi_geneThis was a decent episode. I didn’t like how the focus moved towards Yui studying for midterms. I honestly didn’t see the point in it. Yes, this moe generic school episode did have me laughing a couple times. Like when the light music members were imagining what Yui’s sister would be like. Then Tsumugi mentioning she brought the cake. But really, this felt like a regular episode of Lucky Star for me. I’d feel more comfortable if the show was at least longer so it’d be okay to waste time with crap like this. I just hope the upcoming training camp episode will give them a good chance to level up their music skills. The preview music gave off beach episode vibes. Yui is progressing.. somewhat, so I hope she makes use of her time wisely next episode.
Also, what was up with Yui’s dream sequence? Was that a reference to something or was it more of a LOLZ SO RANDOM XP
