kzi_youkoObligatory fanservice episode this early on is always a welcome. Mio was a huge factor in appealing the entire episode, from her bikini to the maid outfit. I guess this is where “Moe moe kyun~” is inserted, but frankly speaking, it’s a bit over the top now. I have no qualms with it whatsoever, but the fact that black knotted two-piece bikini Mio is overlooked is appalling. Tsumugi’s wasn’t bad either, but her top didn’t have a knot tied. Speaking of Tsumugi, I think she really stood out a lot this episode. Not just because of the whole villa thing, but that did help gain her some more attention than usual. See her sand castle? I’m glad that she’s at least given prominent screen time, unlike the treatment Miyuki suffered in Lucky Star. From this, I can gather that Yui was more in sync with Ritsu than she ever is with her guitar playing. They were seriously like sisters during the “camp.” The fireworks display was a really cool touch and it impressed me just as much as it impressed Mio. What’s even more impressing is Yui’s guitar playing. Last we heard her she was only able to play some chords but now she was riffing. I loved how she was enjoying “choking” on the guitar. Oh, and I guess they had to end it with some onsen time. Overall, it was quite an enjoyable episode.
kzi_geneYou gotta be kidding me. This episode didn’t cover them practicing at all? Just when they were thinking about getting serious, all of a sudden the scene fades and we’re brought to three months later when the training camp is over. I know these slice of life scenes and HHNNNGGGG moments are fun to watch, but I’m not watching K-ON for those. You know for a show about four moeblobs forming a band, it’s funny how there isn’t much music playing going on. Right now the biggest thing the show is lacking is focus. If K-ON wants to be a slice of life show, that’s fine. But as far as I’m concerned all this mention of “practice” and “band playing” is just a cocktease for the four girls to play spectacular music out of nowhere. We’re only four episodes in right now so the show still has a long way to go. I’m really hoping it improves because it does have potential in my opinion to turn out to be something greater. I’m not expecting this to be the next Beck or anything, but at least something I would be able to proudly recommend to those looking for something music related.
