Ah, so this is the episode based on those chapters of Romio and Jurietsu. Needless to say, KyoAni catered to the RitsuxMio fanboys and fangirls by making the girls look extra vulnerably cute. Their relationship has no doubt climbed higher than ever before. Unfortunately, I thought the episode itself was pretty weak compared to the others. I didn’t mind the Rio (or is it Mitsu? I forget), but I couldn’t help but find myself more attached to Yui’s silliness and, most of all, Azusa’s cuteness. It’s just really great that in this episode she gets to be the teaser instead of the teased. In this case, Ritsu was the one who was on the short end of the stick. You can tell she was irritated because she kept referring to Azusa by her last name. Still, nothing was as pleasing this episode as Azusa’s “Phwwwh”ing at Ritsu.
The series has a certain way of delivering its humor, but the scene where Mio imagines everyone as Ritsu felt like something straight out of a Western children’s cartoon show. Anyhow, I thought the waiting tables thing was pointless and was thrown in just for kicks. Mio herself didn’t think it really helped, as waiting tables and performing a play are different things. As Yui mentioned, Mio has done well in front of the audience plenty times before so there was no need to get worked up over another event… unless she’s afraid she might trip over and expose her striped panties yet again. Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if that were to happen again.
So it’s obvious that this episode has nothing to do with HTT practicing. The next one continues with the Romeo and Juliet play as well, but considering it’s part of the festival, perhaps there will be a performance somewhere? Regardless, I can’t wait to see Yui’s debut acting skills as a tree.
