K-ON!season 2 eps 22

This has got to be one of the warmest episodes, and by ‘warmest,’ I mean the vibe of the episode. I do have to mention that it was ironically a cold winter during this episode. Azusa herself mentions the warmness that she feels when she’s around her club members, despite it being freezing cold out. I didn’t pick this up ’til later but ever since the end of episode 20, things have gotten quite sensational for the girls. I think the whole reason for this warmth is that these will be the last times Azusa can treasure her high school days with her fellow senpai girls now that they are close to graduating. It becomes rather apparent after she failed to give them the chocolate cake, but I felt that the direction of this episode came out nicely, especially during the second half. Yui’s “pound it!” fist turned out to be just candy, but I’d like to think that the candy bit had more significance than was given. Speaking of Yui, her bangs regrew quick.
You know, the winter and high school days usually create a mellow, but nice blend when it comes to scenery and presentation as evidenced by this scene that happens after Azusa leaves the girls and stands in front of the school grounds with Ui and Jun behind. Really puts the mood in place, doesn’t it? I already mentioned before how Azusa wasn’t as saddened as the other girls about their time together almost ending, but I think this episode reflects on Azusa’s true feelings about the whole thing well. I think if it wasn’t for the happy music, it would not have been so obvious that all the girls got into the first choice for their university, but happy endings are happy, so the least we can be is proud and happy for them as graduation comes ever closer.
