kzi_youkoSo it was just another typical K-ON! episode, and by that I mean nothing more than just tranquility for the girls. Somewhat of a slower pace than what I usually think, but it was nice to see the girls doing their own thing once in a while. The big thing for me was Ritsu showing off her bangs. I really don’t think she looks that weird, but I’d love to see that more. Speaking of her, so when was it established she has a younger brother? This is like the first time a guy’s had lines and stayed on the screen for more than 10 seconds. So was Mio really just writing lyrics up, or was there more to it than that? *cough* Mugi working at the fast food restaurant was also pretty funny. I think she enjoyed it a bit too much, but it was cute to see her working. On Azusa’s side, it was a bit bleak seeing her taking care of a cat, and wow, a cat. If everyone had just come to Yui’s house, things would’ve probably been dandy, but I was at least satisfied that they were all together in the end. Sawa-chan-sensei and Nodoka were noticeably absent from this episode, but I really didn’t mind it.
Kinda funny how this is the last to air and on such a note too. Well, I guess KyoAni was too busy making Endless Eights to care so much for K-ON!. Will we see them again? Maybe. Anytime soon? Yeah sure, like, right after I get my Lucky Star, dammit.
kzi_geneHmm what can I say about this extra episode? Honestly, when watching it felt like a reject episode they didn’t want to include in the main storyline but for some reason was animated. I’ll think of it as getting my DVD extra early. Nonetheless, this episode was decent for a standalone. The early somber atmosphere was a bit awkward. First time the show ever started on that note. Basically lots of depressing stuff happening with everybody except Yui. Well not really depressing.. but it showed on their faces. And here is what was my favorite part of the whole thing. With a simple text message from Yui, the mood instantly changed. The moral of the story: Why so serious? No, but really despite the simplistic nature of the plot line here I enjoyed the theme which is to not get so caught up in things and become overly serious. And it’s no surprise that it was Yui who was the one to implement this message. Of course with Yui the more serious dilemmas for her would be the lack of ice cream in the house or what sugar-filled hotpot tastes better.
Anyways, this extra was enjoyable despite nothing really happening. Though looking back at the early episodes of the series this episode would have fitted right in. Looking forward to more high school girl antics in the next season. See you later,
